Denise is now in the working class!

Denise got a call yesterday from the grocery store (Kroger) where she has a job interview at on Wednesday. She reported today for another interview and they asked her to stay for a training session. Her first day of work will be Friday. She will be working 4 hour shifts, for 20 hours per week. She will most likely be working in the deli/bakery area.

Track meets

Naomi has particpated in 2 tracks meets so far. The first meet was tough as over half of the girls team was gone for a band/chorus trip. But they still did very well. Naomi threw the shot put and discus, ran the 800 meter and was the second leg of the 4x 400 meter relay.

Here's the certificate she was awarded for her great effort.

The second meet she threw the shot put and discus. She broke her personal record in discus!

Appliance Gremlins

I have been convinced for quite awhile now that there are gremlins that live in computers causing all kinds of mischief and mayhem. Now I think they have migrated to our refrigerator. The frig that belongs to the landlord has not been working well since we moved in. The bottom shelf (and produce crispers) would freeze and the top shelf was close to being dangerously warm. So while the repair man was out fixing the washer, I had him also look at the frig. from the Taooma house. (It has stopped cooling after a power outage.) When we plugged it in, it seemed to be running okay. So we left it plugged in over the weekend, with a thermometer. Everything seemed great, so we switched it out. But now with the food in it, the temperature is not consistant.

So Jonathan and I have decided it's probably time to get a new one. I guess we know where our tax refund is going (now to just get the return filed!!)

It's snowing!

A cold front moved in during the night and today it is snowing. This is some really crazy weather we are having. It has been raining quite a bit lately, which is really good. Hopefully the reseviors will be refilled and the drought conditions will ease.

News

Sorry it's been awhile since I've updated this blog, but I've been sick with bronchitis. I got sick right after my sister left (I'm really glad it didn't happen while she was here!)So I haven't gotten to finishing the editing of the photos.

The kids are away at a youth retreat this weekend. So Jonathan and I are just relaxing. He has been away most of the last 2 weeks running retreats and visiting with soldiers. He leaves again on Sunday to go to Denver for a training course.

Denise is still looking for a job. The babysitting one didn't work out because they wanted to pay her too little for watching the baby all day. (That was Jon's and my decision.) She did apply to KFC, but since she doesn't want to work Sundays, her application was rejected. So the hunt goes on. In the mean time, she is working on perfecting making pita bread.

Jon Paul is thinking about which classes he will take next year. This high school offers Advanced Placement classes (meaning if he passes the end of year test, he will be able to get college credit). He has a drill competition coming up the end of the month.

Naomi is on the track team. She will be competing in discus, shot put and long jump. THe first meet is March 13th. She is also meeting with the chess team once a week.

I have been working on a couple of embroidery orders- 30 more shirts for the middle school chorus and an altar linen. We also went to the big semi-annual sale at the fabric warehouse. So now I have lots of fleece and brocade to sew with. Need to get started on that. I'm also working on better organizing all of the embroidery designs I've been collecting for 3 years. It is slow going, but hopefully I'll have a better idea of what I have and can find a design when I need it.

I did get the basement reorganized into a sewing room and family room. Fortunately none of the computers or sewing machines were placed under the washing machine drain as it has leaked twice in the last month. We are not sure what is causing the problem.

I love you Daddy.
