On March 28, 2008 Archbishop Chuck Jones of the Southeast Province will ordain three men as deacons for the Charismatic Episcopal Church of St. Peter the Fisherman in Wilmington, NC. This is particularly noteworthy as these men are the first to obtain Holy Orders in the church’s 12 year history.

The third man, Ronald L. Howell, is a registered nurse at New Hanover Rehabilitation in Wilmington. Ronald provides medical support to St Peter’s Early Bread ministry, a Sunday morning breakfast program to the homeless and poor, along with his wife, Sandra, who is also a nurse. Ron is a member of the Rector’s Council, a commissioned Lay Eucharistic Minister, and has taught classes to adults in Wednesday evening services. The Howells have four children, all over the age of 20, and have been faithful communicants of the CEC for nine years, five of which have been spent at St. Peter’s.
Ron and his family were a part of our congregation when we were stationed at Ft.Bragg, North Carolina. They are good friends and we wish him all the best in his new ministry.
