Wildlife- Wed, Jan 16

Here's the activity I saw this morning as I was looking out my dining room and kitchen windows. Sorry they are a little blurry. I guess the animals are camera shy.

This and That

1. The last 2 days the temperture has been in the 70s- this is January, right?!

2. We had our family gift exchange on Sunday- Epiphany (12th day of Christmas). It was a nice time. Several gag gifts were given.
We even managed to get the Christmas decorations taken down AND put away by Tuesday.

3. Jonathan is home for a couple of days. He has an upper respirtory infection. Fortunately it is not the flu or strep throat.

4. We got the Suburban back this afternoon. It had been left with a mechanic friend while we were gone to have the brakes worked on. It's nice to know we will be able to stop when we need to.

5. Basketball practice will resume next week. We missed Boy Scouts last night. The first drill practice of the new year was today. It remains to be seen if JonPaul will continue or if his Eagle Scout work and homework take over.

Finally Home

It took 3 days to get home from Oregon after celebrating the holidays with Becky's family. Flying stand-by did indeed turn into an adventure. We had no problems on the way out west, but coming back we ended up spending one whole day in the Salt Lake City airport as plane after plane left without us on it. While in SLC, we ran into friends from Georgia (Jim is Naomi's basketball coach). They were returning from Boise, Idaho where they had gone to watch their son play in a football game. They had 2 other football moms with them, so our group doubled.

Finally we got a plane to Las Vegas, being told that there might be a better chance of getting a seat on a plane there. But again we ended up spending a whole day in an airport. Finally, after midnight, several of our friends caught a flight to Boston and about 1 1/2 hours later we got a flight to Cincinati. From there, we all got flights to Atlanta- after missing a day of work and the first day of the new school semester!

Here are some photos taken late in Salt Lake:

Naomi goes skiing

Naomi got to go skiing for the first time on Dec 21 at Willamette Pass in the Cascade Mountains. She went with her Aunt Mari and cousins Ashleigh and Joshua.

Here's how she did- with 2 hours of lessons...

Christmas

We had a wonderful holiday in Oregon. Here is a photo of the tree and stockings at my sister's house. We had 18 for dinner- all immediate family!
